Governor Adams Oshiomhole, on Thursday, survived an assassination attempt when gunmen attacked his motorcade while he was campaigning at Usen town, Ovia South West Local Government Area of the state.

For coming back home late after work, a 27-year old trader, Azubike Nwachukwu, has allegedly stabbed his younger brother, ThankGod Nwachukwu, 22, to death in Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.
He is now facing a murder charge at Ebutta Metta Magistrate’s court Lagos.
The incident happened at 7, Akipowo Owo street, Ilogbo, Ajangbadi, Lagos.

He bled profusely, slumped and died.When their neighbors rushed him to a hospital, the doctors merely certified him dead.

Pastor runs mad while praying for mad man
PEOPLE living at Oke-Ado area of Ibadan, Oyo State, as well as shop owners and automobile dealers along Molete road in the town, on Thursday, watched a drama involving a pastor and a mad man.
The pastor, whose name is Timothy, according to an eyewitness, got to Ososami junctions of Oke-Ado around 5.20 p.m and went to meet the mentally-deranged man, popularly known as Tunde, who was sitting in front of a building in the area.
According to Semiu, a shop owner around the spot of the incident, the pastor began to read the Bible on sighting the mad man, while he moved closer to him and laid the hand on his head.
“At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde, the mad man. The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began,” Semiu told our source
Speaking further, another witness, an okada rider, said at a point, the mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, adding that “suddenly, a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth.”
The mad man, it was gathered, initially left him in this position and sat at some distance away from the pastor, before the duo later sat closer to each other, while onlookers watched the strange drama.

Many residents of Lagos and Ogun states could not make it to their offices and business places as the two states were heavily flooded due to an early morning rainfall today.

Daramola, of Agege area of the state, had pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of threatening to kill and attempted murder.
However, Magistrate A. F. Botoku was not impressed, as he found Daramola guilty on the second count of attempted murder of one Miss Folake Badmus.
Daramola's guilty verdict was without an option of fine.
He was found guilty of pouring kerosene from a lighted stove on Badmus during a quarrel, which in turn, sparked fire and burnt parts of her body.

Udoamaka Okoronkwo-Onuigbo, the mistress of a former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, has been released from a United Kingdom Prison after serving two years.
Okoronkwo-Onuigbo, who was tried alongside Ibori’s sister, Christine Ibori-Ibie, was found guilty of money laundering and mortgage fraud and was sentenced to five years by Judge Christopher Hardy of a Southwark London Crown Court on June 7, 2010.
The two women were accused and subsequently convicted of handling proceeds of criminal transactions on behalf of Ibori while he was governor of Delta State.

12 Nigerian prostitutes rescued in Ireland
The Garda SÃochána na hÉireann (commonly referred to as Gardai), the national police service of Ireland, has rescued 12 trafficking victims and identified the organisers of the biggest prostitution and human-trafficking ring operating in Ireland.
According to an investigation into human trafficking carried out, the Gardai uncovered a prostitution racket run jointly by Irish and Nigerian criminals for the past three-and-a-half years.
Gardai raided the house after they got information that some Nigerian women were living there without the knowledge of the relevant authorities.
One woman claimed she had earned €44, 300 (N9 million) working as a prostitute and had given half of that directly to her controller, while the rest went on rent and bills and a large chunk of the profits had been wired back to Nigeria through Western Union.
According to reports gathered by the Gardai, the criminal gangs were using voodoo rituals performed by local witch doctors hired by the gangs, to traffic young women into Ireland who would be exploited as prostitutes.
The victims were forced into prostitution and put to work in brothels, earning huge profits for the gang controlling the racket.
The gang was targeted under Operation Mast, led by the human-trafficking investigation and co-ordination unit within the Garda National Immigration Bureau.

Jonathan Fires NNPC Boss, Austen Oniwon, Names Andrew Yakubu As Replacement
President Goodluck Jonathan has fired the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Austen Oniwon, and other top officials of the corporation.

Man Kidnaps Brother For N4m Ransom
A 27-year old man, Okafor Chukwujekwu has been arrested by the police in Lagos state, Southwest Nigeria, for allegedly kidnapping his blood brother, Cosmos Chukwujekwu for a ransom.
The victim, who is his elder brother, was kidnapped at Festac Town, Lagos and taken to an unknown place where he was made to pay N4 million ransom before he was released.
Okafor was arrested along with his accomplice, Malik Sherif, 31, and charged before the Apapa Magistrate’s with kidnapping.
The incident happened at 4th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos, close to the victim’s house.
AMEBONEWS gathered that Okafor had asked Cosmos to assist him set up his own business, but Cosmos told him to be patient to enable him raise some money.
Rather than wait, he settled for the devil’s alternative and allegedly ambushed Cosmos along Festac road on his way to his home and took him to an unknown place where they threatened to kill him if he did not pay the money.
The victim surrendered his Honda car, handsets and paid cash of N1.8 million before they released him.
The total value of what he paid them in exchange for his freedom was N4 million.
The matter was reported at Festac Police Division and the defendants were later arrested.
Okafor and Sherif were arraigned before Apapa Magistrate’s court presided over by Mr. E. A. Ogundare.
When the charge was read to them, they pleaded not guilty.
They were remanded in Kirikiri prison while the matter was adjourned.
50 Cent in hospital after car crash
50 CENT has been hospitalised following a horrific car crash in New York last night, according to reports in the US.
The accident is said to have occurred on the Long Island Expressway after the rapper's SUV collided with a truck.
Fansite ThisIs50.com said that medics raced to the scene and 50 Cent was transferred to an ambulance on a stretcher and wearing a neck brace before being taken to a nearby hospital.
The rapper is reportedly undergoing tests on his neck and back, but there were no further details about his condition.
According to the website, the other driver involved in the accident is also receiving treatment.
